Factory Relocation/Plant Relocation within the UK
How I can help you?
Not all factory relocations are driven by the needs of business to expand. Some businesses successfully downsize by moving to a new location where local conditions are conducive to business stabilisation and renewal.
Whatever your reason for your factory relocation, the process/project will undoubtedly call for experience beyond your companies normal operating parameters.
I normally operate on an agreed daily rate, chargeable only on time incurred. This can be scaled up or down to meet your budgetary needs. I have a well established network of contractors giving me the ability to maintain tight time scheduling and competitive budgetary outcomes.
if you chose you can remain in full control of the factory relocation project. I will supply you with daily reports to enable you to monitor and adjust the programme schedule. Under this type of arrangement all contractors/suppliers invoices will be paid directly by you, ensuring that you keep control over all costs and commissions.
Key issues:
- Pre-planning the whole factory relocation process is essential, a comprehensive Microsoft Project plan or similar should cover every aspect and contingency.
- Do you have a member of staff experienced in the preparation of a project plan detailing the timescale, priorities and budget costs for the factory relocation?
- Do you have a member of staff with current experience of the problems likely to occur during process shutdown and factory relocation that can manage and control the project?
- Do you have in place a focal point for every aspect of your move while you concentrate on your core business? An independent project manager will improve staff moral and take responsibility for day-to-day planning and most importantly communication.
- Do you have access to people on the ground that can decommission and prepare plant for transportation ensuring a successful rebuild at the new location?
- Transport costs are high. Packing costs, especially case making even higher. Most machinery and plant even fragile items travel safer when expertly framed into the carrying truck/container and this can be done at a quarter the cost of case packing by my contractors.
- All factory relocation projects will require a health and safety plan, most will fall under CDM regulations. Do you have staff experienced/qualified to prepare the necessary plans/contracts?
- Do you have a member of staff who understands the myriad of available funding streams that your business may be able to access to assist in the move?
- Do you have in-house experience in obtaining process planning permissions and environmental permits for your new location?
- De-commissioning and disposal of the site you leave behind can be a costly distraction; I have the experience to deal effectively with this process.
Factory relocations are an opportunity to upgrade or reorganise your production facilities. You probably know exactly what you could improve and long for the chance to start with a clean slate, but a second opinion is always useful and I have a wealth of experience for you to call upon.
